About Super Goat Gliders
Michael Balogh (pronounced "bay-low") is a design engineer and machinist with over 45 years of fabrication experience. He lives, works, and flies in the Hudson Valley of New York.
The Super Goat Glider is a variant of the original Mike Sandlin design.
Mike worked to simplify the design and construct kits so that it could be built by just about anyone. Super Goat Ultralight Gliders come in a partially-assembled kit with assembly instructions. They are shipped by crate and can be shipped around the world. Each kit is made to order and can be customized. Mike is currently working on perfecting a modular engine attachment so that the glider can self-launch.

A look at the prototype
Specifications
Super Goat has many improvements over the original Sandlin design:
The kit:
Materials:
Mike utilizes 100% A/N aircraft hardware throughout the plane, and the kit includes all necessary nuts, bolts, and rivets. The kit includes all necessary glue and tape to install the foam wing ribs as well as the Ceconite Dacron aircraft fabric and fabric glue. You also get a deep bucket seat with fitted vinyl foam-filled seat cover plus FAA-approved three point safety harness. Mike builds in an 70% up and 30% down aileron differential.
Engine:
Mike has been developing a quick-attach engine option which will accommodate a 49" pusher prop, converting your Super Goat glider into an instant motor glider in less than 60 minutes. This addition is still in the experimental stage, but will be ready and available as an add-on purchase soon.
Turnaround:
Mike will deliver your kit within 4-6 weeks of receiving your 50% deposit.
- All aluminum is 6061-T6
- The airframe has been strengthened by increasing the wall thickness of most of the structural tubing from .035 up to .058
- Super Goat uses braided aircraft cables for all brace wires and flight controls, rather than the original nylon cord as called for in the Sandlin plans
- The rudder area has been enlarged by 20% and the wingspan by 18 inches, with a wing area of approximately 185 square feet, giving it a wing loading of only 1.2 pounds per square foot based on the empty weight of 150 pounds.
The kit:
- 80% fast-built kit includes everything but paint
- Includes completed cockpit and three axis control system
- The wing attach tower comes complete as part of the forward fuselage assembly
- All tail feathers, rudder, horizontal stabilizer, and elevators come assembled and complete along with the ailerons and flap sections
- The wing struts are pre-drilled, gusseted at the lower end, and scissored together for shipping. They are connected with one rivet - the builder must simply open them up and complete the remaining rivets.
- The tail tubes are pre-drilled and scissored together for shipping
- The wings require the most assembly - they come with 56 pre-cut foam ribs, pre-drilled spars, drag braces, and compression struts
